Trump announced his intent to nominate Paul Atkins to serve as chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission. A crypto industry favorite who currently works as the CEO of Patomak Global Partners, Atkins served as a commissioner at the SEC under former President George W. Bush.

The CNBC Primary: The leading contenders to be House Financial Services Committee chair are taking their gavel pitches to the airwaves in the final days before next week’s Steering Committee presentations.

Reps. Andy Barr (R-Ky.) and French Hill (R-Ark.) have both joined CNBC’s Squawk Box since Tuesday morning. Both appearances were tidy encapsulations of their pitches to colleagues, and they even made a bit of news in the process.
