Oregon gets in on Direct File

Oregon is the first new state getting in on the expansion of Direct File – the IRS’ free online tax filing platform – for 2025, the agency announced today.

That’s a win for Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden (D), chair of the Senate Finance Committee. Wyden has joined fellow Democrats in championing the program and calling on the IRS to make it permanent. The agency decided last month to keep the program going and expand it beyond its limited, 12-state pilot that ran this tax filing season.
