The U.S. economy logged another bad day on Thursday, with monthly inflation figures and weekly unemployment claims notching their highest levels in some time.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that prices increased 0.4% during the month of August, the biggest hike since January.

The agency also reported a big spike in weekly unemployment claims — the highest in nearly four years.
