ROAD news: House Financial Services Committee Chair French Hill (R-Ark.) and Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) are in discussions about sending an amended version of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act back to the Senate, according to three sources familiar with the planning.
Hill and Waters are negotiating changes to the institutional investor prohibitions sent over by the Senate in March. Those prohibitions have run into resistance from the industry. We’ll have much more in PM.
Now onto the Fed: Kevin Warsh’s confirmation hearing to chair the Federal Reserve will be Tuesday, April 21, according to multiple sources familiar with the plan.
The Senate Banking Committee is planning to formally notice the nomination hearing later today. The meeting will be a chance for senators to press Warsh on his views on interest rates, Fed independence, the economy and other big issues facing the central bank.
