The Vault: GOP SALT leaders reject $25K cap

Republican leaders in the fight against limiting state and local tax deductions told us they would reject a $25,000 cap, upping the ante in the struggle over SALT.

Reps. Young Kim (Calif.) and Andrew Garbarino (N.Y.), the GOP co-chairs of the SALT Caucus, said that the limit would not even come close to the cap they’re looking for, in a new statement shared with us.

“A $25,000 SALT cap does not get close to bringing relief to families unfairly burdened by the current cap,” Kim and Garbarino said. “We remain committed to working with our colleagues to fulfill President Trump’s promise to address this pressing issue, and we look forward to a serious discussion.”
