A $25,000 cap for deducting state and local taxes doesn’t have the votes to pass the House.

SALT Republicans make it clear $25K cap won’t fly

House Republicans from New York, New Jersey and California are making one thing very clear: A $25,000 cap for deducting state and local taxes doesn’t have the votes to pass the House.

Here’s the news: Five GOP members who oppose the current $10,000 SALT cap have said today that setting a higher $25,000 limit won’t be enough to win their votes for Republicans’ tax bill. And they had some harsh things to say about the idea it ever could.

The comments come after Bloomberg reported that Trump administration and Senate Finance Committee aides are working on a plan that would include a $25,000 SALT cap.
