The House Republican leadership has delayed two key reconciliation markups, bowing to the reality that the Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce committees aren’t ready to consider their portions of the package.
There are several dynamics that led to the delay.
First of all, the Ways and Means Committee is still waiting on budgetary scoring on several portions of the tax-cut provisions. The House GOP leadership would rather not hold the markup next week and then have to make edits to the bill later on.
