The Virginia Supreme Court handed Democrats a big win on Friday as the panel allowed the state to move forward with an April 21 referendum that could allow a major redraw of the Old Dominion’s congressional map.
Virginia Democrats are pushing a new map that would allow them to pick up as many as four House seats in a good year, turning Virginia into a 10D-1R delegation from its current 6D-5R status. Today’s ruling keeps that push on track, a boost for House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene as they try to win the majority in November.
