Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) unveiled a plan for comprehensive regulation of artificial intelligence on Friday that touches on kids protection, intellectual property and even exports of advanced chips.
The plan from Blackburn, who is perhaps the fiercest opponent of preempting state AI laws without federal regulation, represents one of the first pitches for a national standard. All sides are increasingly admitting some kind of standard will likely have to be part of any AI conversation in Congress.
