Lawmakers aren’t sold yet on the $9 billion Rayburn House Office Building renovation project that the Architect of the Capitol has been pitching.
The House Appropriations Committee will markup the FY2027 Legislative Branch bill this week, which includes some funds to start the Rayburn renewal but doesn’t meet the AOC’s full request. Democrats and Republicans have both said they need more documentation and that budgets are too tight in general.
