Trump puts restrictions on sales of AI chips on China

Score one for the China hawks.

Nvidia announced Wednesday that the Trump administration informed the company it’s putting new export controls on the H20 processor the American chipmaker sells to China. As a result, Nvidia said it would take a $5.5 billion charge on its quarterly earnings. The news shook financial markets, with Nvidia’s stock taking a particularly steep tumble.
