About two-thirds of top Hill staffers say the Trump administration’s move to dismantle the Education Department will hurt Republicans in the 2026 midterms, our latest survey found.

Unsurprisingly, 98% of Democrats who took the survey said the effort will reduce the GOP’s chance of winning the 2026 midterms. Of Republicans who took the survey, 68% agreed.
