Senate Majority Leader John Thune is now publicly backing off the idea of forcing votes on so-called “rifle shot” bills to pay the troops and air traffic controllers during the government shutdown.

Ahead of a GOP lunch meeting that will feature Vice President JD Vance, Thune declared that there’s “not a high level of interest in doing carve-outs, or so-called rifle shots.”
