Senate GOP: We’re barreling ahead on reconciliation

Senate Majority Leader John Thune told GOP senators in a closed-door meeting this afternoon that a compromise budget resolution doesn’t have 50 votes to pass the Senate yet, and that’s the holdup in getting it to the floor.

Thune’s message during Senate Republicans’ weekly lunch could signal problems for their plan to get moving on reconciliation quickly by passing a compromise budget blueprint with different instructions for House and Senate committees. But the Senate GOP leadership still wants to push forward with a vote this week.
