The tax bill is finally about to go to the Senate floor just in time for election season. But it won’t be your typical “show vote.”
The Wyden-Smith package, which passed with bipartisan backing in the House, isn’t expected to get the 60 votes needed for cloture thanks to Senate Republicans’ opposition. Democrats are still hoping to make a political point about their support for the child tax credit and other priorities in the bill. But the vote isn’t looking like it’ll fall along a neat partisan divide.
