House Republicans' proposed moratorium on state laws regulating artificial intelligence faces long odds of making it through the Senate.

Senate Commerce Committee Chair Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said “there’s a real question” over whether the decade-long ban on state AI laws complies with the Senate’s restrictions on what can be included in a reconciliation bill. Fresh opposition from a different Republican senator also complicates the provision’s chances.
