China panel scolds FBI over use of some devices

The bipartisan leaders of the House’s Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party want the FBI to stop giving a thumbs-up to products made by Chinese tech firms the lawmakers say could threaten U.S. national security.

Chair John Moolenaar (R-Mich.) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Ill.) sent a letter today to FBI Director Kash Patel urging him to end certifications that allow the bureau to work with 32 devices, such as surveillance gear from the firm Hikvision.
