Grassley, Durbin hit Silicon Valley over H-1B’s

Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and the panel’s top Democrat, Dick Durbin, are demanding tech companies explain why they are hiring foreign workers while laying off Americans.

The letter to tech giants, including Amazon and Meta, arrives as President Donald Trump has jump-started the debate over the hiring of skilled foreign workers by proposing big changes to the H-1B visa program.

The teaming up of Grassley and Durbin shows there is at least some shared, bipartisan concern about Silicon Valley’s hiring practices.
