The House Republican working group on digital privacy is within weeks of releasing its work, which will borrow from existing state data-protection provisions, according to multiple sources familiar with the effort.
At the same time, the draft from members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee would propose overruling aspects of roughly 20 state laws, sources said.
