Jordan clamping down on foreign online speech laws

Congressional Republicans and the Trump administration are amping up pressure on foreign governments they say are engaging in “censorship laws” that force Big Tech to police speech.

House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) announced this morning that he sent subpoenas to Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Rumble, TikTok and X Corp. for any communications they’ve had with foreign governments over speech. The committee is seeking internal and external correspondence over laws, regulations and judicial orders regarding online expression.
