Ted Cruz brings back deepfakes bill that almost passed

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is reintroducing his bipartisan bill to criminalize the online publication of nonconsensual nudes, weeks after the bill was poised to pass in the prior Congress before falling short.

If it were to pass, the measure from Cruz and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), known as the Take It Down Act, would represent a rare success among lawmaker efforts to regulate social media.
