Trump signs deepfakes law

President Donald Trump signed a bipartisan bill Monday to rein in nonconsensual explicit deepfakes as the Federal Trade Commission gets ready to enforce the new law.

“With the rise of AI image generation, countless women have been harassed with deep fakes and other explicit images distributed against their will,” Trump said in a Rose Garden signing ceremony. “Today we’re making it totally illegal.”
