GAO rules Trump violated impoundment law

The GAO announced Thursday the Trump administration illegally withheld funds from a Transportation Department program, the first ruling to come out of the watchdog’s several impoundment investigations in the era of DOGE.

The agency ruled the Trump administration violated the Impoundment Control Act of 1974 when it didn’t fund the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program, created by the Democrats’ Inflation Reduction Act.
