JD Vance comes to Congress, talks Medicaid, Iran

Vice President JD Vance pushed Senate Republicans Tuesday to meet their July 4 deadline for budget reconciliation but said the real goal is for a bill to reach President Donald Trump’s desk before the August recess, according to multiple attendees at a closed-door Senate GOP lunch.

Vance’s comments align with the latest projections for the debt limit, which is a major component of the reconciliation bill. But Vance told senators that Trump wants them to act as soon as possible, even as several GOP senators are raising concerns with the Finance Committee’s tax and Medicaid provisions.
