President Donald Trump’s controversial choice of Bill Pulte to be the acting director of national intelligence is yet another huge provocation to Senate Republicans, deepening the rift between GOP lawmakers and the White House.
Pulte will remain the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency while he temporarily oversees the nation’s 18 intelligence agencies.
In the immediate term, Pulte’s selection will make it much harder for Democrats to support renewing FISA Section 702 by the June 12 deadline.
