She may have voted against an Iran war powers resolution this week, but Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) blistered the Trump administration’s efforts to make the case for war and slammed her congressional GOP colleagues for being reluctant to undergo public oversight.
In a 15-minute interview on Thursday, Murkowski indicated she wouldn’t be a rubberstamp for a supplemental funding request — “I, for one, do not want to be given basically the invoice for the war supplemental and told, ‘this is it’” — and said she is “a little bit frustrated” by the “lack of consistency in terms of messaging” from senior officials like Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“I don’t think the administration has made that case,” Murkowski, a senior appropriator, said. “I don’t think they’re trying. I think they’re fumbling on a lot of things now.”
