Bessent on Powell, Jeffries on outbound

We’ve got two pieces of news for your Tuesday evening.

Fed watch: We caught up with Treasury Secretary nominee Scott Bessent as the billionaire hedge fund manager left the office of incoming Senate Finance Committee Chair Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) this afternoon. Bessent told reporters that he supports Federal Reserve Chair Jay Powell serving his full term.

Outbound on the outs: House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries told us the push to restrict outbound investment in China has “ongoing issues” and suggested lawmakers did not have a deal, contrary to reports this weekend. More on that below.
