CFPB moves ahead with ‘repeat offender’ registry

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau finalized a rulemaking this morning that would create a registry for nonbank “repeat offenders” that violate consumer protection law.

The rule, first proposed in late 2022, will design a first-of-its-kind national database for violations of consumer financial law.
