Breaking news: Congress’ top tax writers are on the brink of a deal to expand the child tax credit and revive some lapsed tax breaks for businesses.
Sources close to the process say the package is “90%” finished. House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith (R-Mo.) and Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) have led the negotiations.
