Crypto talks risk crashout after Dems’ starting offer

Senate Democrats involved in crypto market structure negotiations sent Republicans their first legislative offer this week. In response, GOP staff have halted crypto talks until further notice, according to correspondence reviewed by Punchbowl News.

Democratic staff offered initial provisions on decentralized finance to Republicans on Wednesday. Catherine Fuchs, Republican staff director of the Senate Banking Committee for Chair Tim Scott (R-S.C.), replied that they would “pause any further meetings” until Democrats agreed to schedule a markup session.

“I have talked to the Chairman, and until we have an agreed upon date for markup we are going to pause any further meetings,” Fuchs wrote in an email we obtained.
