Vice President JD Vance stopped by the Capitol to speak with GOP senators at their weekly policy lunch, making news on both the government shutdown and the Senate’s forthcoming votes on blocking President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
But Vance was bombarded with questions about the administration’s decision to import beef from Argentina — something that has outraged Republicans, particularly those who represent farm-heavy states.
At least a half-dozen GOP senators pressed Vance about the move and Trump’s Truth Social post in which he insulted American farmers and ranchers who expressed their opposition to the new policy, according to two senators in the room.
