There’s been a tremendous amount of action in the House today. And we expect this scramble will last all week.
The House Rules Committee is meeting right now on Speaker Mike Johnson’s troubled health care bill.
As we’ve told you for days, Republican moderates want to amend the bill to allow for a vote on extending the enhanced Obamacare premium subsidies. The House GOP leadership isn’t supportive unless the bill is offset.
Johnson also told moderates in a meeting of the Republican Governance Group that the full GOP conference is concerned about extending the Obamacare subsidies without adding abortion funding restrictions. Anti-abortion groups have been pushing for this language.
