In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Stefanik will rejoin the House GOP leadership – which was news to many House Republican leaders.

W.H. yanks Stefanik nomination, but she is welcome back in House leadership

The White House has withdrawn the nomination of Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, newly concerned about the tight margins in the House as President Donald Trump seeks to pass his legislative agenda.

Stefanik, 40, resigned as House Republican Conference chair – a position now held by Rep. Lisa McClain (R-Mich.). She has no subcommittee assignments and even passed up a chance at chairing the House Education and Workforce Committee. Much of Stefanik’s congressional staff had moved on. Some were preparing to join her in New York.
