Congress may have to pass a short-term extension of a critical cybersecurity law amid confusion over how Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chair Rand Paul (R-Ky.) wants to address the expiring policies.
Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.), ranking member on HSGAC, said the extension could be a few months or “whatever the timeline we need” to allow lawmakers to work through a long-term reauthorization. The law expires on Sep. 30.
