Revival of key trade programs gets a strong start

The effort to restore a pair of key trade programs is picking up momentum.

The House Ways and Means Committee voted 37-3 last week to revive the African Growth and Opportunity Act, which applies to exports from sub-Saharan African countries. The panel gave unanimous support to an extension of the Haiti HOPE/HELP Act, which aids apparel and textile goods imported from the country.
