The Senate Banking Committee hosted a quartet of Trump administration nominees this morning. The setup led to a flurry of policy talk, with senators bouncing from banking and securities deregulation, debanking, tariffs, supervisory risk management and the banking crises of the last two decades.
The four regulatory nominees all emerged from the hearing relatively unscathed, with Banking Chair Tim Scott (R-S.C.) hailing the group as “an opportunity to take another step toward reigniting President Trump's blue-collar comeback.” We don’t expect any to have a problem getting confirmed. But we learned some stuff in the process.
