Scalise puts machine to work against rule change

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise has deployed his whip team in an attempt to defeat a motion to raise the threshold needed to win the GOP nomination for speaker, according to multiple sources involved in the effort.

Scalise has his whip team calling House Republicans aligned with the Louisiana Republican and urging them to vote no during a closed party meeting Wednesday.
