Paul plows ahead with his CISA plan

Senate Homeland Security Committee Chair Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is determined to follow through with a controversial plan to add a new provision to a critical cybersecurity law set to expire at the end of the month.

Paul scheduled a markup to reauthorize the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act, which provides liability protections for companies that share cyber threat data with the government, for Thursday.

But Paul told us he’s adding language with First Amendment “protections” to the CISA bill despite his counterparts saying it’s not appropriate and could risk a lapse in the liability protections.
